NUTTER FORT, W.Va. (WV News) — Two Harrison County men are facing a drug charge in an investigation by a Nutter Fort lawman patrolling the community’s park.
Joey Alex Moore, 32, of Bridgeport, and Jordan Cross, 33, of Clarksburg, will be charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine by Detective J.A. Hetherington. Cross also will be served a shoplifting warrant, according to Hetherington.
The detective was patrolling when he saw a silver Kia Optima parked on the north end of the park.
Cross was inside the vehicle, while Moore was outside with a dog running at large, Hetherington alleged.
“I approached Moore regarding the dog and, during our interaction, asked several interdiction questions,” Hetherington alleged. “This, combined with a criminal history check revealing Moore had a recent possession of a controlled substance charge, raised suspicion of narcotics in the vehicle.
“I conducted a pat-down of Jordan Cross and requested his consent to search the vehicle, which he granted. The search yielded two scales, two vials with methamphetamine residue, one drug smoking device, a black leather coat containing12.73 grams, 1.32 grams, and 5.72 grams of methamphetamine, respectively, along with 0.22 grams of fentanyl, and 75 stamp bags indicative of narcotic sales,” Hetherington alleged.
“Both subjects were read their Miranda rights and interviewed separately. Each claimed the narcotics and paraphernalia belonged to the other. Both were subsequently taken into custody. The evidence was secured in evidence bags and transported to the station with the subjects,” Hetherington alleged.
Even though the park is in Nutter Fort, it’s called City Park of Clarksburg and is operated by City Parks of Clarksburg.
