CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — Clarksburg City Council will meet Thursday evening to consider two nominees for vacancies on the Clarksburg Visitors Bureau board.
The nominees are Doug Comer, superintendent of Clarksburg Parks and Recreation, and Martha Jett, a part-time employee at the Clarksburg History Museum.
City Manager Tiffany Fell said the council must approve the nominations before they are finalized.
“The city council has to ratify their nominations,” Fell said.
Council member Ryan Deems said he received the nominations on Monday.
“The nominations are run through the Clarksburg Visitors Bureau, and they do interviews,” Deems said.
Deems noted that he knows Comer and believes he can bring valuable insights to the bureau.
Council member Martin Howe echoed that sentiment, emphasizing Comer’s expertise.
“He represents the park system, so he’ll have a lot to add to the board,” Howe said. “He could provide ancillary benefits since he directly operates the infrastructure of the different parks.”
Clarksburg City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Clarksburg Municipal Building.
