MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University Health System today (Feb. 4) announced the appointment of Michael Stevens, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P., F.I.D.S.A., F.S.H.E.A., as the WVU Health System’s chief quality officer. Dr. Stevens, who had been serving as interim chief quality officer, joined the Health System in 2022 as its inaugural chief epidemiologist. He also holds a faculty appointment at the WVU School of Medicine, where he serves as chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases.

Stevens previously held several clinical and academic posts concurrently, including medical co-director of the Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (VCUMC) in Richmond.; interim hospital epidemiologist at VCUMC; professor of internal medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine; and associate chair, Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, VCU School of Medicine.
