LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Preston Knights traveled all the way to Louisville, Ky., for the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic held at Tom Sawyer State Park on Saturday, and they once again posted impressive results.
The Preston girls’ squad placed first out of 21 scoring teams with a score of 106 while the boys placed 12th out of 33 scoring teams with a score of 360.
In the girls’ race, senior Hallie Simmons led the way with a time of 19:40.1 to earn 10th place out of 181 runners.
Twin juniors Autumn Myers and Delilah Myers followed in 24th (20:40.3) and 26th (20:44.1), respectively while sophomore Ava Simmons took 28th with a 21:00.1. Rounding out the team’s scoring was junior Hannah Liston who managed a 21:41.5 to earn 42nd. Also in the race were freshman Zoey Borgman who placed 46th (21:52.4) and sophomore Tori Hovatter who nabbed 76th (22:44.5).
In the boys’ race, seniors Damian Rumer and Landon Griffith had another solid day at the office, placing 20th (16:40.8) and 23rd (16:48.9) respectively. Freshman Huxley Rumer added a nice outing with a 17:26.9 to place 45th out of the 248 individual runners.
The team’s scoring was rounded out by juniors Ethan White (133rd, 19:14.7) and Travis Parks (174th, 20:22.8). Also, freshmen Garron Pyles (288th, 20:43.3) and Jaxon Mullins (210th, 21:54.4) ran for the Knights.
Raymore-Peculiar won the boys’ meet as a team with a score of 76.
RunWV Rankings Update
Plenty of Preston runners on the boys’ and girls’ side are featured in the latest RunWV Rankings (through meets held by Oct. 5 and received by Oct. 7).
As a team, the Preston girls are ranked fourth in the latest top 10. The top four also includes University, Morgantown and Cabell Midland.
The girls’ individual rankings feature eight Knights: Hallie Simmons (15th), Delilah Myers (36th), Autumn Myers (38th) Ava Simmons (41st), Zoey Borgman (63rd), Hannah Liston (65th), Tori Hovatter (86th) and Leigthon Biermann (96th). There are 167 runners who have earned an individual ranking in this week’s female field.
On the boys’ side, Preston maintained its place in the top 10, taking the 10th spot for the third week this year. Five Knights have earned individual rankings, and they are Damian Rumer (13th), Landon Griffith (24th), Huxley Rumer (T37th), Ethan White (T124th) and Travis Parks (167th). There are 167 runners who have earned a ranking in the male field this week.

The Knights will compete in the Big 10 Championships at 1 p.m. next Thursday at Charles Pointe in Bridgeport.
