Many or even most of our current problems could be solved with the process of logical and creative thinking. In general, we are confused, perplexed, stressed, and lacking time to think and deeply analyze our dilemmas.
Slusser
The development of computers, smartphones, and other technologies providing instant information and personal communication has slowly but surely allowed us to evolve into a lazier and rushed society in terms of our thinking and problem solving.
Information has never been void of the possibility of addition or subtraction of truth in order to support a certain desired point of view. The 24/7 electronic news media has so diffused the happenings of the day that if one searches long enough, they will find their perspective supported.
There has never been a time in American history when logical and creative thinking is more urgently needed by all, especially by our leaders. We often choose or accept a side of an issue without determining it to be sincere, logical, or truth-tested. Much of our political news is presented in a way that nonacceptance places us in a prescribed category of being ignorant or racist.
Americans are a lot more intelligent than we are believed to be. It has been stated, and I agree, that if every American were required to vote, we would need not worry about the outcome in most elections. But if we are not careful, we will become one of the mentally lazy and uninvolved citizenry who likely do not vote and all of a sudden open their eyes and wonder what happened to the country.
Let no one be unjustly convinced that we are a bad nation. Let no child be taught that they are greater or lesser than another. Let “Old Glory,” our symbol of freedom, never be defaced or degraded. Let our national anthem not be minimized or replaced. Let our warriors throughout history always be honored and reverently remembered. May our national motto “In God We Trust” resound through all of time as the solid foundation of our remarkable and God-blessed nation.
It is and always has been acceptable to criticize our country’s current and historic failures and mistakes. We have never claimed to be perfect. We are forever restricted from perfection by our limitations in being human. Hopefully, we have learned from our mistakes and will not repeat them. Americans, when called to arms, emergencies, and the protection of freedom for others, have risen in unison and united resoluteness.
My hope and prayer is that deep beneath all the wrangling and organized attempts to disrupt or even replace democracy lies a nationwide patriotism pulsing through the veins of proud, blessed, grateful, forever-free Americans who think logically and creatively.
Historically, at times our country has deviated from its quest for equality and freedom for all, but its intended foundational direction is once more realized as we continue on in our corrected journey. Progress has been and is still being made although some try to convince us otherwise.
It is time to clear our thoughts, emotions, and attitudes and inject a large dose of logic and problem-solving creativity. We must resurrect the flickering embers of united patriotism and fan them into a roaring flame of resolute patriotic fervor. We are blessed to live in America. Let’s appreciate this and live accordingly. God has surely blessed America.
