The Mountaineer Job ChalleNGe Program recently announced Class 2-24 as the 11th class to complete this West Virginia National Guard Program.
A total of 19 graduates from 10 counties across the State of West Virginia successfully completed the requirements for graduation.
Jonathan Michael Facemire, son of Mike and Joyce Facemire of Bridgeport, graduated from the Building Construction Program.
Christian James Bunner, son of Fairmont's Donnie Stevens, graduated from the Welding Program.
Madison Shiann Williams, daughter of Eric and Crystal Williams of Crawford, Upshur County, graduated from the Medical Assistant Program.
The Building Construction Program includes partnerships with the WV Wood Technology Center, where our students learn how to build a tiny home while gaining instruction on OSHA, First Aid, forklift, and the opportunity to earn a West Virginia contractor's business and law certification.
The Welding Program includes a partnership with the Monongalia County Technical Education Center. There, students have the opportunity to earn SMAW and GMAW welding certifications.
The Medical Assistant Program includes a partnership with Eastern WV Community Technical College, where students have the opportunity to test and earn an NHG Medical Assistant (CCMA) Certification.
All graduating students have completed the residential phase of the program, which includes activities in eight core component areas ranging from service to employability skills.
Students provided 1,272 hours of community service for such organizations as Camp Dawson Multipurpose Building, Camp Dawson DFAC, Valley Healthcare, Route 7, Hovatters Zoo, The Grace House, and WVU Research Farm.
Following graduation, these students will begin a one-year post-residential phase of the program that includes placement activities in education, military and/or employment.
