Hi, everyone.
My riddle for you this week is: Where do all the hamburgers take their dates on Valentine’s Day?
The center is open for lunch and activities.
If you are sick or have been exposed to COVID, please do not come to the Center.
Meals on Wheels clients are still being served. Also, if you are eating lunch at the Center, inform Teresa the day before.
A REMINDER that when schools are closed because of inclement weather, the Center will also be closed. If schools are on a two-hour delay, we will also be on a two-hour delay. Lunch will be served at the regular time.

Here’s what we did at the Center last week.
On Monday, the Seniors visited with each other.
On Tuesday, we played Bingo and Junior won Coverall.
On Wednesday, we exercised and played Jog Your Noggin’ games.
On Thursday, we played Bingo and Theodore won Coverall.
On Friday, we exercised and had Bible Study.
The Center is having a Valentine Coloring Contest. Pick up your Valentine picture, color it, and put your name on the back and turn it into Teresa by February 12.
Here is what’s going on at the Center in February. On February 3, winners of the Groundhog Day Predictions will be announced. On February 4, we will have Pilates and Prize in a Poke Bingo (bring a prize in a poke). We will have Crafts on February 10. The government food boxes will be available for pick up on February 12. On February 13, we will have Bingo and our Valentine Party. We will crown our Senior Sweethearts (vote for the sweetest male and female senior and put your vote in the box). You may bring in a sweet treat or finger food. The winner of the coloring contest will also be announced. The Center will be closed on February 17 in honor of Presidents Day. We will have our Senior Club Meeting on February 18. On February 20 we will have our Birthday Lunch. Craft Class will be on February 24.
If anyone would like to help your Ripley Senior Center, we need the following: Bingo prizes or money donations to purchase bingo prizes, paper plates-dessert size, Styrofoam section plates and Styrofoam coffee cups. Thank you.
We’d like to send congratulations out to Teresa for becoming a grandma again. Her daughter gave birth to a beautiful little girl last Sunday night.
I give you a winter quote to warm your heart: “Kindness is like snow. It beautifies everything it covers.” —Kahlil Gibran
Have you ever heard the expression, “to wear your heart on your sleeve?” In the Middle Ages, young men and women would draw names to see who their Valentine would be. They would wear this name pinned to their sleeves for a week for everyone to see. This is believed to be the origin of this expression.
Here are some more February folklore. “If the weather be fine and frosty at the start of February, there is more winter ahead than behind.” And here is an interesting one, “When the cat lies in the sun in February, she will hide behind the stove in March.” So, everyone, watch your cats!
Until then, I leave you with the following verses:
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
Answer to riddle: The Meat Ball!
