Our mother, Carolyn L. Lundy-Boyce (June 12, 1947 — January 31, 2025) passed suddenly and unexpectedly after battling sepsis and septic shock four times in the last two months.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary R Boyce (1948-1992).
Family was the most important thing to her where she instilled core values of empathy, honesty, & fairness. She is survived by her loving children Brian R. Boyce and Laura L. Boyce-Burcham.”We have lost our most valued treasure.”
She was the fifth and youngest child of Clare Alexander Lundy (d) and Gladys Gertrude Ware-Lundy (d). Siblings: Gertrude “Arlene” Lundy-Haller (d 9/2024), Robert Lundy, Janice Lundy-Reid, and Nancy Lundy-Laulis. She leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren (Crista A, Earnest G “Gary,” Jeffrey B) and great-grandchildren (Liam, Sonya), numerous nieces and nephews, and many unrelated, yet, “extended family” members.
A former homecoming queen and singer in a band, she enjoyed country music, being in nature, gardening, cooking, canning, baking, crochet, crafting, and candy making where she made hand decorated chocolates, wedding mints, and holiday treats. She went out of her way regularly to help anyone in need, even strangers. She worked for Chesterfield County Schools for over 30 years supporting the school social workers, psychologists, and attendance workers in secretarial services and ran the indigent/ homeless student supply chain. Our message: Learn to love and show compassion for every soul as each person is going through something. Never allow preachers or politicians to instill division and hate. We are all brothers and sisters on this planet. When you meet someone different than yourself, try to learn more about their culture and life experiences.

A second visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., on Thursday, February 6, at Ford Funeral Homes, 201 Columbie St., Fairmont, WV 26554.
