GREGORY ERIN HODGE, 54, passed away on Jan. 25, 2025, after a long illness. The oldest of four, Greg was born in California on June 23, 1970, to David and Mary Hodge. He was a graduate of East Bank High School class of 1988. He then went on to receive a bachelor's in accounting and business management at West Virginia Tech while working full-time at Kroger in Marmet. He later received a master's degree in business at WVU.
Greg began his three-decade career with the West Virginia State Treasurer's Office in1994, eventually becoming a Treasury Team Lead at the West Virginia ERP Board until his illness required him to leave in 2024.
In his leisure time, Greg was an accomplished bowler and a member of several leagues at Robin Lanes / Galaxy Lanes. He also loved playing golf and meeting up for family game nights.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, David Hodge and Mary Hodge, both of Chesapeake, West Virginia; grandparents Lairdy "B" and Anna Madelene Hodge, of Chesapeake, and Celcus "Pap" and Juanita Hammond, of Chelyan, West Virginia.
He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Hodge (Bryonna), of Summerville, South Carolina, and Cayden Hodge, of Charleston, West Virginia; sisters Kristy Nelson (Chad) of Bloomingrose, West Virginia, Amy Taylor (Jacob) of Diamond, West Virginia, and Beth Wood (Mark) of Kimberly, West Virginia; granddaughter Taytum Hodge, of Summerville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His family would like to thank the staff at Valley Center in South Charleston, West Virginia, and Hospice at Memorial Hospital in Charleston. Their loving care provided during his illness and end-of-life care meant the world to us. The work they do on a daily basis is selfless and appreciated during these difficult times.We would also like to extend a special thank you to Judy Burke for being so compassionate to Greg during his illness. It did not go unnoticed by his family, and we are thankful for her kindness.
No funeral services are planned at this time to allow the family time to grieve privately.
