Nina Onile Smith, 94, of Augusta, WV, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV.
Onile was born on December 4, 1930, in Augusta, WV, a daughter of the late Ocie B. and Margaret Staub McCauley. She worked along with her husband & family at Smith's Orchard and Fruit Market near Augusta. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church near Augusta and the WV Farm Bureau. Onile was a meticulous homemaker who loved canning, cooking, gardening, seeing her customers at the fruit market and providing a big meal for the workers & family.
Onile married William M. "Sam" Smith on November 4, 1950, in Hagerstown, MD. Sam died on November 26, 2024.
Surviving are her children: Linda S. Riggleman and her husband Gary; Jerry M. Smith and his wife Jennifer all of Augusta, WV; seven grandchildren: Kevin & Calvin Riggleman, Felicia Peacemaker, Logan Smith, Jason & Nathan Staub and Ashley Lake; 11 great-grandchildren: Andrew & James Smith, Bridger & Benjamin Peacemaker, Reagan & Ryker Riggleman, Pierce, Huxton, Lilly and Branten Staub and Harper Lake.
Family will receive friends at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 12:30-2 PM followed by a funeral service at 2 PM. Officiating will be Pastors Karen Tate and Alanna McGuinn. Interment will follow in the Malick Cemetery near Augusta, WV.
