FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WV News) — The Fairmont State University football team will play Post University in its 2023 Homecoming game, the team revealed on Monday (Aug. 7).
The two teams will play on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. from Duvall-Rosier Field in the 2023 Fairmont State Homecoming game. The announcement comes following the impending closure of Alderson Broaddus University.
Single-game tickets and new season ticket packages will be available on Wednesday, Aug. 9. Parking passes will be available for pickup at the Fairmont State Athletic Department offices on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
PUERTO CALLED UP: Alejandra Puerto of Fairmont State women’s soccer has been selected to represent the Honduras Women’s National Soccer Team in a pair of friendly matches, the team revealed on Monday (Aug. 7). The matches will take place in Honduras from Aug. 8-14.
Puerto was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team and received All-Mountain East Conference Second Team honors following an impressive freshman campaign.
The sophomore from La Ceiba, Honduras, chipped in seven goals, including four game-winning goals, and six assists during her first collegiate season.
Puerto was voted to the MEC All-Tournament Team after scoring the game-winning goal in the semifinals versus West Virginia State and helping lead the Falcons to their first MEC Championship.
Puerto and the Fairmont State women’s soccer team will begin the 2023 season on Aug. 31 at Seton Hill.
